Some unfussy photos of the most special item I’ve ever made.
Bought this religious quilt from my favorite thrift store in Ohio (which is closed now 😢) for ~$20 and thoughtfully pieced it into this jacket.
This is one of those pieces that revealed itself with each step. The only “plan” I had was the initial pattern block. The patch is a hand-done chainstitch of my Nanay’s nickname “Nini”. The religious medallions are collected from my childhood and some I inherited from my Lola.
I’m not particularly religious anymore, but this one hits my soul deep. 🕊️ Ancestral fashion is so magical, and I hope that as time progresses that fashion becomes less about industry and more about history and our connection to it.
